In The Meantime ... Bronies React To Derpy!!!

While waiting on the completion of our next article, I thought I'd satiate my readers’ appetites with some Derpy related content.  While the main object of this website is to preach the good word of positive 'Derpy' usage, it never hurts to be reminded why we love the little filly so much in the first place.

So without any further pomp allow me to present a very Derpy episode of the fantastic web series Bronies React To starring internet sensations ACRacebest, Dusty, Solrac, D.Notive, BaldDumboRat, The Living Tombstone, iBringDaLULZ, Saberspark, and Rina Chan(You can view each participant's youtube channel by following the links above)

Explaining My Un-Derpy Conduct

Greetings Every pony.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while.  I've been sick lately, which put me behind on other projects I had in the fire that have kept me from updating this blog.  I'm already working on a new article and will have something up soon, with hopefully other somethings posted on a regular basis after that.

Until then please accept my heatfelt apologies and by all means, have a Derpy Day!

Derpy Genesis

In the beginning Matt Stone created the 'Derp' ... and no, sadly you didn't read that wrong.  While doing some research of an etymological nature I stumbled across the origin of the word 'Derp' courtesy of Know Your Meme.  Turns out the word was first spoken as a throw away punchline uttered by Matt Stone in the film 'Basketball'!

Yes ... that Baseketball and that Matt Stone.

I know Derpy, I'm as shocked as you are.

Considering this guy is one of the two creators of South Park one of the most offensive and vulgar shows to ever air, I can understand how 'Derp' came by its' dubious reputation.  As disheartening as this is, if the Magic of Friendship can defeat Discord and the Power of Love can banish Chrysallis, I guess the Gift of Knowledge can help us overcome Derp's dubious definition.

And it does add one thing in our favor.  From all appearances the word itself had no intended meaning.  It was just a funny blurb.  The meaning was given it by those who repeated it, just like we're trying to do to make the word a positive influence.  If one meaning can be assigned a word by general unsage, so can another.

I'll be back tomorrow with possible uses and translations for the word, as well as a few other goodies.  Keep on derpin' everybody!

Derpy Definitions

Here at the Derpy Project we are dedicated to finding new and exciting ways to use the word 'Derpy' in our everyday lives! BUT, before we can move forward, we must first know where we came from! The Urban Dictionary lists 6 possible definitions for 'Derpy' but the two I think are most relevant to this blog are the fifth and sixth entries, which read:

5.
Derpy
Something that can explain something that is cool or dumb.
1)Man this song is so derpy!
2)Yah, that guy is such a derpy derp!

6.
Derpy
Looking slightly retarded in a picture
"She looks so derpy with that duck face!"
"That guy looks so derpy in his pictures."

I think we can all agree that definition Number 5 is the one the Brony/Pegasister community should be striving to uphold (or rather the first part of it (ie: the part where Derpy can mean something 'cool')) and that definition Number 6 is the one we want to avoid at all costs!!!
It's actually helpful that definition #5 already exists and is recognized.  It makes our job a whole lot easier because we have a pre-existing foundation to stand on!  So let's get out there Bronies and make the truth of 'Derpy' known!  After all, it's the 'Derpy' thing to do!
